Day 6: San Francisco

We start the day with a little breakfast at the parking where we stayed for the night, but quickly went back over the Golden Gate Bridge to go to the AT&T store to arrange the right sim card for an internet connection.
This time they fixed it all for us and when we walked out of the store with a mobile internet connection of the cheap phone we bought at the Target yesterday.

Chinatown
We went to Chinatown. Mathilde wanted to visit a couple of temples, but we couldn’t enter them because they were all closed.
But Mathilde liked to see all the typical Chinese shops that she also had seen when she was in China in 2018.
A couple of houses are decorated in a typical chinese style.
On the edge of Chinatown, just next to “Dragon gate”, you will find the shop Michael, Fine art & antiques. We entered the shop just to see what they sell. They sell all kind of really nice pieces of art, but it’s far beyond our budget. So we didn’t buy anything and left the store

Tiled steps
In San Francisco, there are a couple of beautiful tiled steps. We visited a couple of them.

Japanese Tea Garden
We went to the Japanese Tea Garden, which you can find in the Golden Gate Park. You will have to pay an entrance fee to take a walk through the Japanese style park. There are Pagodas, typical bridges and nice shaped plants.
We took a little rest and ordered a cup of tea with some cookies is the tea house

Botanical Garden
At the Japanese Tea Garden, we bought a combo ticket to enter the Botanical Garden as well.
The Botanical Garden has 55 acres landscaped gardens with plants from around the world. It’s not very spectacular, but it’s a nice garden to walk and see a lot of nice plants.

Wilhelmina Tulip Garden and Dutch Windmill
In the Golden Gate Park you can also find the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden and next tho the garden there is the “Dutch Windmill”.
So two typical Dutch things. But when we stood there we heard a woman said: Ohhh what nice tulips. We both started to laugh out loud, because the flowers in the garden were not Tulips at that moment.

Mission district Street Art
Just look around in the mission district of San Francisco and you will see a lot of street art painted on the walls of buildings. Some nicer than others, but a lot of them tell a story of the artist or the time they were made in.
When you go to Balmy Alley, you will find a piece of art on every building in this alley.

By the time we were finished with our street art tour trough Mission district, it is already going to be dark. So it is time to move ourselves to Fisherman’s Wharf. Here you can also find Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, a well known Seafood restaurant chain. They really have delicious fish food and good crafts beer.
After our diner, we drove back to Dana Bowers rest area & Vista point to stay here for the night.
