Day 8: Wrong campground reservation 😂

After staying the night at the Sonoma Coast State park we left at about 8 am to continue our route up to the north on Highway 1.
We passed a sign of Fort Ross what wasn’t on our itinerary, we were just at the start of the day so we had time left to go there.

Fort Ross State Historic Park

We parked at the parking lot and there even wasn’t somebody at the payment. So we went to the fortwhat is a little walk further away. We arrived at the gate it wasn’t really open yet. But the lock was open, so we pushed the doors open and entered the Fort.

Trinks cafe
Since we didn’t had a good breakfast and we both wanted a good coffe, we stopped at the Trinks Cafe in Gualala.
It was a real nice cafe and all the pastries and bread looked so good. We only took the buttermilk pancakes with Maple Syrup.
After the second coffee we left, because we still have some driving to do. We need to get to our campground where we have made a reservation.

Bowlingball beach
Our next stop is Bowlingball beach, but unfortunately it is high tide, so we could see the round shaped stones just a little bit when the waves were gone.

Point Arena Lighthouse
At Point Arena there is a lighthouse we wanted to see and just make a picture. But just for parking the car on the parking you had to pay $5 per person. So we parked just down the road and made some pictures from the coast line.

Chandelier Tunnel Tree
The last stop before our campground is Chandelier Tunnel tree. This is a big Redwood tree wich is about 276-foot (84m) tall.
It has a big hole cut through it’s base where you can drive thru with your normal car.
Our campervan was too big ofcourse so we had to get out of the car to make a picture.

Wrong campground
After visiting the big Redwood tree it’s time to hurry up. It is about 4.45 pm and wanted arrive early at the campground Mathide booked because it has a wimmingpool.
The name is Hidden Springs Campground and set the adress in the navigation. Because of some traffic delay we needed to call the campground we would arrive after check-in time. We reached the voicemail, so we hoped for the best.
When we arrived at the gate there stil was a ranger to check us in, but couldn’t find our reservation. Mathilde took her phone and showed the email confirmation. The ranger looked at it and said: This reservation is for Hidden Springs Campground in Pennsylvania….
We all started to laugh, that is a 2816 miles from each other. Eventually there was enough space on this campground and stayed for the night, without a swimmingpool that was too bad. But we had a nice BBQ.
