During some days Ruben had some contact on facebook to meet a gold prospector around the Auburn area.
Unfortunately the guy coudn’t make it to be here today so wen went to the Pioneer Mining Supply shop and bought us a couple of goldpans. The nice lady at the shop tought us quickly how to use the gold pan and send us the the Bear River Campground. This is a day use area where you can look for gold without having a permit or something like that.
After being at the river for almost 6 hours we packed the very little gold. On our way to the car we went by a man prospecting and saw he did a lot better than we did. Out of a sudden he decided we could have his gold he found. Wow great! He told us it was worth around $7.
We thaked him and poured it over in the little jar on the picture beneath. There is still some dirt between it and we have to filter the gold out of it. In the two other little jars there is the gold what we found ourselves and the plastic bag contains some other dirt where we think there is gold in it too.
We left Bear River Campground about 5 pm and want to arrive at Lake Tahoe tonight. This morning when we arrived at the river we met a couple that was walking their dog. We had a really nice chat with each other about our trip and what we had planned. We said them our next stop would be Lake Tahoe and they told us to have diner at the “Char Pit”. So we went looking for it, but they were already close, because they went out of burgers for today.
We found another dining, The Grid Bar & Grill, that was a nice one too.
Because we didn’t make a campground reservation and drove around for a while, but could’nt find a nice spot and ended up a parking of the bandoned “Tahoe Biltmore” Casino and Hotel. (Not a great picture)
