Because we had a long day in Disneyland yesterday, we didn’t wake up too early. But didn’t want to spend a lot of time in bed, too. So about 9:00 we woke up and after taking a shower we went to the Anaheim Gardenwalk again. That’s the same place where we went for diner yesterday, but now we wanted to know if we could get some breakfast somewhere around.
We found a Huckleberry’s, a place you can get breakfast and lunch. They have all kind of breakfast and even get get a burger in the morning. We just took the Huckleberry waffles and Huck’s sweet crêpes and some coffee. It was just perfect for our first morning.
After the breakfast we went back to the Hotel, took our stuff and took another Lyft. Now we went to Escape Campervans to pick up our campervan.
We arrived pretty early and had to wait till it was our turn. They even had to clean our campervan, because it was just returned this morning.
After checking us in and having a nice chat with the person at the desk we could pack our stuff en at 2 p.m we got ourselves going. First stop, Walmart to get some groceries for the first days.
We wanted to stop at the Santa Monica pier, but all the parking spots were full. So we decided to get in Highway 1 for the first real miles of the trip and head to Malibu beach for a little walk.
There were just not a lot of people, so we didn’t stay long.
We resumed our route and stopped at the Escondido Canyon Park. There is a short trail to the Escondido Falls. It’s about 3.7 miles in & out so just a little walk in our opinion. But when we got to the “waterfall” there was a very little water, so nothing special. We went back to the campervan and drove along.
We had a little stop at point Dume just next to Malibu beach. Here you have a nice view over Santa Monica Bay.
Because it’s already 7.30 pm we will have to go. We need to get to Santa Barbara today and that is still a more than 1-hour drive and have to find a place to camp.
After entering Santa Barbara, we found a parking spot just next to the Santa Barbara Roasting Company. A great spot just to get a good cup of coffee the next morning.
We cooked our dinner here and after some relaxing we closed the curtains and took a first sleep in “Nessy”.
