Today it is the 1st of August, Scout Scarf Day.
The idea of “Scout Scarf Day” on August 1 is that all active and former scouts are requested to wear their scout scarfs in public to make the “Spirit of Scouting” visible: Once a Scout – Always a Scout! (www.scoutscarfday.com)
So we both wore out scarf and orange (netherlands) travelingscouts T-shirt this day.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park
The first place we are going to stop today is the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. After getting a map and some information about the surroundings we decided to take a short hike and choose the Gould Grove Nature Loop Trail.
We liked this hike very much, you walk through a forest with real big redwood trees and over small streams of water.
After the first little hike, we drove a little further and dit the Rockefeller Loop
Redwood National Park
This National Park is a 1:30 hour drive and you just have to follow one road called ‘Avenue of the giants’. A really nice road to drive trough the redwoods. We stopped at the Thomas H. Kuchel visitor center where we got a map for the park.
In the park we walked the ‘Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail’ and the ‘Trillium Falls Trail’.
