What did we do in Albania?

Albania

We drove to the border of Montenegro and Albania and pass it without too many problems and are in Albania in 2 hours. It all takes a bit longer than the previous borders as these countries do not belong to the European Union.
We have read that Albania must be a beautiful country, but because it is quickly getting colder we chose to visit Albania
drive on quickly and visit it in detail someday.

We did become acquainted with the chaotic traffic in this country. Like letting passengers out in the middle of the highway, during a traffic jam the emergency lane simply becomes an extra lane. Everyone just goes about their business and doesn’t exactly follow the traffic rules.
It has now also started raining and will continue for the rest of the day. Since we are outside while we are cooking, we stop at a restaurant somewhere along the road.
It looks quite fancy and after seeing the prices we happily take a seat at a table. The food is very tasty, a piece of meat with fries and salad.
We see that there is a campsite next to the restaurant, it is already quite late and still raining so we decide to spend the night at the campsite. The owner mainly speaks German, so it is easy to communicate.
There is also a workshop on the campsite grounds and after another cold night we ask the owner if he knows someone who can install the heater for us. Ruben could do it himself, but we don’t have the right tools for that. He thinks he knows someone and after calling, he can come by this afternoon to have a look. We use the rest of the day to arrange and organize some other things for the rest of the trip.
In the end no one came to watch and it is a bit vague whether he will come the next day.

In the morning we first drive to Elbasan to do some shopping and get away from the campsite for a while.
We walk a short walk and then drive back to the campsite. We relax around the Camper for the rest of the day.
Indeed, around 4 o’clock a gentleman comes who can install it tomorrow morning.

We liked the restaurant so much on the first evening that we had dinner there again on both the second and third evenings.
At 8 o’clock sharp, as agreed, the technician will be at the campsite to help us with the heater.
Two hours later the heater is connected and working well. The installation was a bit sloppy and we would have done it differently ourselves, but for now it’s fine. We will look at it at home to see if it can be done more neatly.

Before we go we can pick some oranges from the trees at the campground and continue our way to Macedonia, where we want to visit Ohrid.
